"Unresponsible Hotel Staff - BEWARE"

I have checked in to Alpina Phuket on 30 Sep with my partner for a 2 nights stay before we we hop to Bangkok for a few more days. First impressions of the hotel was great. We were welcomed by the front desk gals and were allowed to check into our room even though we have reached the hotel at 10am that morning. Rooms were clean, even the balcony's floors were pretty well maintained too. Everything seems so nice.. BUT, READ ON!
We were into the second day where we decided to hair a car from the hotel tour counter to explore the island on our self drive trip. Our usual practise, we would stuff all laying personal items back into our luaggages, closed it up and random the luggage lock number (if you know whatr i mean). We hang our the sand bag which has a sign to "make up" our rooms in the late morning.
We returned to the hotel at ard 7.30pm in the evening. The room was nicely made up. I went to my luaggage to pick up some clothes but realised all pin numbers have been scrolled to "000"! I was shocked and someone must have meddled with my luggage for sure. My partners was worse; his luaggage lock was broken! It was obvious to be a attempt thief case. Immediately i called the front desk to have one of their staff to come up to our room. We explained the matter to the staff. But later was informed that their manager had left for the day and they would get him to attend to me before 12noon next day.
We went to the front desk after breakfast the next morning (ard 9am). Still the manager was still not in. We went out and came back at around 10.30am and one of their floor manager came to us. We were told the card access has records of 3 person entering the room while we were away the day before. He visited our room with a housekeeper whom presume to have entered the room while we were away. They communicated in Thai which we cant really make out and left the room shortly. We were due to check out at noon with a pre-arranged pick up service to catch the domestic plane to Bangkok. At check out, they were standing ard at the front desk, telling us none of them is responsible for the damage and twisted their words saying they have only 1 staff whom entered the room during our absence. So how do we explain that the lock could be broken when it was perfectly intact when we checked in?? And why was my lock reset into 3 zeros? I demanded for an explaination but we have in return loss faces from them. While i stood there in fumes, the manager and housekeeping staff sneaked away without even a word of apology!!! What is this???!!!! It is rated a 4-5stars hotel and this is the kind of service attitude they should have?? Think again!
Though nothing were missing, but we had to leave the hotel with a broken luggage. I'm utterly disappointed with the service they have offered. It was lucky there there is in fact no valuables in our bags. They will sure be in trouble shld i have something missing from the room while we were away. I have choosen this hotel thinking that a 4.5 star hotel shld be able to offer better service then those ard the same area.
I offer 1 star for the room cleanliness but negative 5 for hotel staff service as a whole.

New Resort, great big rooms, excellent value
Bit Remote
When booking this hotel we were worried that it was a bit away from every thing. When we arrived we were pleased to find that it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the Kata shops and restaurant areas. The hotel itself was great. The rooms are nice and large. They were very well appointed and provided every convenience that you could require. Being a new hotel, everything worked very well and was kept clean. I would recoomend this hotel to others and would stay here again.
Travel tip : Try the Thai cooking class across the street it was great
